The
“ Trofeo Scaccabarozzi -Sentiero delle Grigne"
is dedicated to the memory of Giacomo Scaccabarozzi, dead
in a tragic accident on August 2nd 1998, while he was
fliying with the paraglide above the Grigna slopes.
Born in Missaglia in 1951, since very young he was
a frequenter and lover of the mountains, approaching
more and more himself to the practice of trekking, mountaineering
and ski mountaineering. Active member from 1988 of the
Gruppo Sportivo Alpini of Missaglia, he becomes the
president and the promoter of it, organizing excursions,
ascensions and trekking, also in foreign countries.
In the nineties he led some alpine expeditions on the
Andes, on Himalaya and in Alaska; in 1997 he reached
the peak of the Cho-Oyu (8201 meters), after having
climbed in solitary, the NorthWest crest. Giacomo has
also written two books, “ A due passi dal Paradiso”
(1993) and “ 100 idee per respirare “ (1998)
both published by Bellavite Editore. Through this last
book, edited just
after his death,
is
continuing to receive approvals and that recently has
known a vast diffusion due to the coupling with newspapers
as the “ Provincia di Lecco”, Como, Sondrio,
“ Il Giorno” , “L’Eco di Bergamo”,
Giacomo keeps on talking to us and transmitting his
passion for the alpine environment. |
